Final Decades, 1948–2000
1948
Alphonse Dupuis purchases the company and concentrates on the local market. Paper labels on bottles are no longer used.
Alphonse Dupuis purchased “Mount Zircon Spring, Inc.” in May of 1948 and remained at the company’s helm into the early 1970s. They syrup room’s stainless steel tanks held a mixture of sugar and concentrated flavorings, which was eventually combined with carbonated spring water to produce a variety of popular drinks.
1974
Richard Dupuis becomes company president.
1980
Springhouse Products, Inc., of New Hampshire, purchases the company. Bottling of flavored drinks ends.
1984
Ownership passes back to Mount Zircon Spring Water Company and shortly thereafter plans are announced for expansion and renovation of the 1922 bottling plant.
1987
PepsiCo., Inc. purchases the spring and bottling plant.
1989
Perrier Group purchase the spring and property. Water is transported in tanker trucks to Poland Spring, another Perrier Group operation, where it is bottled as “Ice Mountain Brand” spring water. (The Mount Zircon name is dropped.) Perrier is acquired by Nestlé in 1992.
About 1993
Spring water from Mt. Zircon ceases to be used for commercial sale and distribution.
1997
Randall H. Bennett publishes The Mount Zircon Moon Tide Spring: An Illustrated History.
