COLL 56: Fred F. Bean Collection

Description

A collection of over 100 documents (mostly legal type) relating to old families of Bethel. These mostly pertain to the residents of Bean's Corner/Kimball Hill area in East Bethel and the residents of South Bethel section along present Route 26 from Locke Mills to Bethel Hill. Attached is a detailed list of the deeds, promissory notes, highway surveyor's records, etc.

Names mentioned frequently are Bean (Fred and Peter Y.), Farwell (Charles, John E.), Blake (Micaiah, Gilman L., Galen, F. P., Albion), Upton (Horatio), Walker (James), Thayer (Ebenezer); Kimball (Moses, George F.), MayConnell/McConnell (Jane, Matilda, James, Hillard), Bryant (Moses W.).

These mostly came from Fred F. Bean's home (west of Telstar - Cummings now - house burned mid 1880's). Granddaughter, Sylvia (Grover) Luxton and husband lived there in Fred's later years. Luxton daughter, Mary, married George Stowell III.
