Joseph Penly (1756-1844) immigrated from England to Freeport, Maine in 1770 and served in the Revolutionary War. He married twice (the first time to a widow) and moved to Danville, Maine. Descendants (spelling the surname Penley) and relatives lived in New England, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, California and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to Ontario and their progeny lived in Ontario, Alberta and elsewhere in Canda. Includes ancestry in various parts of England to about 1377 A.D.
