Profiles two woodsmen, Bob Wagg and Walter Lane, who have chosen isolation and self-dependence as their lifestyle in a tarpaper shack on the Dead River in northern Maine. Shows them hunting, trapping, and logging trees with a team of oxen, and includes their comments on human relationships, politics, taxes, women, and death.
