2020 Annual Meeting & Program

September 3 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Middle Intervale Meeting House

The 2020 Annual Meeting of the Bethel Historical Society (d/b/a “Museums of the Bethel Historical Society”) will look a bit different this year but promises to be engaging for all!

The meeting will take place virtually on Zoom. Register here: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMtdOurqzwvHNH32SnBYctoEeMJgpIPem0n. We will convene at 6:30 PM for casual conversation and catching up, followed at 7:00 by a short business meeting. The evening’s program will be Celebrating Statehood: Making Maine at the Middle Intervale Meeting House.

The Missouri Compromise made Maine a free state in 1820, but a growing debate about whether or not to separate from the Massachusetts Commonwealth had been ongoing for years. Though Maine’s bicentennial celebrations have mostly been put on hold until 2021, we are going to commemorate two historic votes that took place right here in Bethel.
