Maine Folklife Center exhibit – “Threads of Our Lives: Maine Folk Fiber Art”
March 7 @ 10:00 am - March 31 @ 4:00 pm
This traveling, four-panel display developed by the Maine Folklife Center (MFC) at the University of Maine, Orono, will be on view at the Robinson House during the month of March (opening March 7), Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm. The exhibit highlights the diversity of folk fiber arts in the Pine Tree State, and is made possible through a National Endowment of the Arts grant the MFC received in 2015. It features four 3 x 7 freestanding panels: “Wabanaki,” “Settlers,” “New Mainers,” and “Community.” The panels illustrate how Mainers from various backgrounds are carrying on their fiber art traditions. Presentation of “Threads of Our Lives” in Bethel is a collaborative project of the Bethel Library Association and the Museums of the Bethel Historical Society. FREE (donations always welcome)
