Lecture: “A Century of the White Mountain National Forest in Maine”
June 24 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
To mark the 100th anniversary of the first land purchase in Maine for what, in 1918, would become the White Mountain National Forest, join us as we hold a joint program with the Gilead Historical Society at the Town Hall in Gilead. Lunch will be available (as a fundraiser for GHS) starting at 11:00 am, followed at 1:30 pm by “A Century of the White Mountain National Forest in Maine,” a lecture presented by David Govatski of Jefferson, New Hampshire. David Govatski is a forester and environmental consultant who worked for the U.S. Forest Service for more than thirty years. He is also co-author, with Christopher Johnson, of Forests for the People: The Story of America’s Eastern National Forests (2013).
